Undermining Revolution Wind Project is a Betrayal of American Workers and American Energy Dominance

“Many of these workers supported the president. They have been betrayed.”

Washington, D.C. (Aug. 25, 2025) — Brent Booker, General President of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), made the following statement  regarding the Trump Administration’s order halting construction of the Revolution Wind energy project:

Hundreds of workers who had good family-supporting union jobs on Friday are out of work today due to chaotic, reckless and senseless action by the Trump Administration.

Many of these workers supported the president. They believed his promises of permitting reform that would unlock good jobs and American-made energy. They believed his promise to bring down the cost of living. They have been betrayed.

Workers have already performed 2 million work hours on the $1.3 billion Revolution Wind energy project. It is 80 percent on its way to providing clean energy to more than 350,000 homes in Connecticut and Rhode Island. The project has already undergone a rigorous permitting process. Energy prices are likely to soar for those who would be served by the project and the cost of living has suddenly become crushing for those thrown out of work. The impact is deep and far — investors are not likely to invest and create jobs in the future when the whims of a president can undermine their billions of dollars.

We call on elected officials and all who care about good jobs and abundant energy to unite to restore this project.
