Statement of LIUNA General President Brent Booker on the Supreme Court’s Ruling to Protect Birthright Citizenship

Washington, D.C. (June 30, 2026) — Brent Booker, General President of the Laborers’ International Union of North America, released the following statement today in reaction to the Supreme Court's ruling to protect birthright citizenship

"Today's decision by the US Supreme Court to uphold the Constitution's 14th Amendment and the principle of birthright citizenship is a victory for the rule of law, our Constitution, and preserves one of our nation's most fundamental constitutional protections.

Throughout LIUNA's history, generations of immigrants have built our roads, bridges, schools, and energy systems while strengthening our union and our country. They are not outsiders to the American story, they are authors of it.

LIUNA will always fight to unite working families, not divide them.”
