“We stand with our members, and all workers, in the defense of our constitution”
Washington, D.C. (June 12, 2025) — Brent Booker, General President of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA)- a union founded by immigrants and comprised of over 500,000 members- made the following statement today on the ongoing protests in Los Angeles:
LIUNA stands in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Los Angeles in exercising their right to peacefully protest the recent wave of aggressive ICE raids occurring across the country. Our first amendment rights - freedom of speech and assembly- are essential rights enshrined in the constitution that make our country great. Peaceful protests are at the core of those values. The labor movement was built on the pillars of these freedoms and we call on the federal government to stop the unlawful and violent attacks on any community exercising this fundamental right. We stand with our members, and all workers, in the defense of our constitution and the freedom it guarantees.
