LIUNA Commends Administration on Prioritizing Union Jobs on Offshore Wind

Washington, D.C. (June 11, 2021) – Terry O’Sullivan, General President of LIUNA – the Laborers’ International Union of North America – made the following statement today:

LIUNA commends the Administration on today’s announcement requiring that developers, who purchase rights to develop wind in the waters between Long Island and New Jersey, make every effort to enter into a project labor agreement for construction. This requirement will put union construction workers in a strong position to win new jobs increasing our nation’s energy capacity - by as much as 7 gigawatts. The White House is putting a priority on union jobs and supporting the creation of good union construction jobs that build America and build the middle-class.

The half-million members of LIUNA – the Laborers’ International Union of North America – are on the forefront of the construction industry, a powerhouse of workers who are proud to build the United States and Canada.
