Washington, D.C. (January 17, 2026) — Brent Booker, General President of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), issued the following statement today:
“LIUNA proudly congratulates Jessica Looman on her nomination and swearing-in as Virginia’s Secretary of Labor. A proud member of our union, Secretary Looman brings a deep commitment to public service and a proven record of standing up for working people.
Throughout her career, Jessica Looman has been a respected leader and tireless champion for workers’ rights. She has consistently worked to strengthen labor standards, protect wages, and foster productive relationships between workers, unions, and responsible employers, always ensuring the raising of standards while supporting a strong, competitive economy.
From her work in Minnesota to her leadership at the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division, Jessica has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to ensuring that workers are treated fairly, paid properly, and protected on the job.
