Washington, D.C. (June 26, 2026) — Brent Booker, General President, and Michael F. Sabitoni, General Secretary-Treasurer of the Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA), released the following statement today on the dedication of the Armand E. Sabitoni Building, the new headquarters of the New England Laborers' Training Trust Fund:
"The dedication of the new New England Laborers' Training Trust Fund headquarters as the Armand E. Sabitoni Building is a lasting tribute to General Secretary-Treasurer Emeritus Armand E. Sabitoni, whose leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to LIUNA have helped shape generations of skilled Laborers and strengthened our union for more than five decades.
Throughout his career, Armand understood that LIUNA's greatest investment has always been its members and the communities they call home. He championed training and education because he knew they do more than develop skilled workers. They open doors to opportunity, strengthen families, and build stronger communities. Armand's unwavering commitment to the next generation of Laborers has left a lasting legacy and helped establish the standard of excellence that defines LIUNA today.
The building that now bears his name reflects that enduring vision. It will be a place where apprentices begin rewarding careers, experienced members continue to sharpen their skills, and the next generation of Laborers is empowered to carry our LIUNA's legacy forward. More than a training facility, it represents LIUNA's enduring commitment to investing in people — opening doors to opportunity, strengthening families, and building stronger communities. Every member who walks through its doors will carry forward the values that have defined Armand's leadership: integrity, hard work, service to others, and the belief that when we invest in our members, we build a stronger future for our union.
The Armand E. Sabitoni Building stands as both a tribute to an extraordinary leader and a commitment to LIUNA's future. It represents our promise to continue investing in our members, advancing excellence in training, and creating the next generation of skilled craft construction workers to lead our union forward.
Congratulations, Armand. This recognition reflects a lifetime of distinguished service, visionary leadership, and an enduring commitment to the men and women of LIUNA. Your legacy will not simply be remembered through the name on this building, it will live on through every apprentice whose future begins here, every member whose life is changed through training, and every opportunity created for generations of Laborers to come.”
