General President Brent Booker on the Midterm Election Results

Washington, D.C. (November 4, 2026) — Across the country, LIUNA showed up, stood together, and helped deliver victories for working families through hard work, determination, and solidarity. Laborers built these wins the same way they build everything else: one shift, one block, and one conversation at a time. This wasn’t about left or right. It was about building from the ground up—and if Laborers know anything, we know building.

Despite gerrymandering and efforts to suppress participation, voters from big cities to small towns told Washington they want leaders who put their paychecks, their freedoms, and their families first. That message started at the kitchen table and on the job site. Families are tired of high gas and grocery prices, corruption, canceled projects, stripped bargaining rights, and economic warfare with our brothers and sisters in Canada—our closest neighbor and ally. They voted for leaders who will put the middle class ahead of corporations and trillionaires.

From historic union towns to Texas, the birthplace of “Right-to-Work”, voters rejected the chaos and division meant to distract them while their chances to get ahead were taken away. Our members know elections have consequences. Elected officials decide whether workers can organize and whether Project Labor Agreements put Laborers to work building North America.

The work isn't finished. We look forward to working with newly elected leaders, regardless of party, to advance good jobs, strengthen workers' rights, and build an economy that delivers dignity and opportunity for working families. We will continue organizing, advocating, and holding elected officials accountable to the working people they represent. The work doesn’t wait, and neither should the people who represent us.
