Statement of LIUNA General President Terry O’Sullivan 

Washington, D.C. (October 1, 2014) – Terry O’Sullivan, General President of LIUNA – the Laborers’ International Union of North America – made the following statement on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approval of the Cove Point LNG facility: 

"The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approval of the Cove Point LNG facility is welcome news for working men and women in the construction industry and for surrounding communities which will benefit economically. Now that the project has undergone a fair and lengthy review, FERC should move quickly to a final notice to proceed. That will clearly demonstrate that it is possible to balance the needs of our economy and our environment, without bending regulations to politics, as has occurred with the still-stalled Keystone XL pipeline."
