Washington, D.C. (October 17, 2017) – Terry O’Sullivan, General President of LIUNA – the Laborers’ International Union of North America – made the following statement today on the U.S. Department of Interior Bureau of Land Management letter regarding the Cadiz Project:
LIUNA commends the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for its new determination; clearing the way for the Cadiz Project to advance.
The Cadiz Water Project is an innovative water infrastructure project that will provide desperately needed drinking water to hundreds of thousands of Californians and create thousands of good jobs. The project will also help veterans get their start in construction through a commitment to employ 600 returned veterans.
The BLM decision should put to rest the many politically motivated procedural delays and allow this urgently needed project to move forward without further impediment.
