Army Corps Decision on Dakota Access: Step Forward for Good Jobs, Sound Energy Policy

Washington, D.C. (February 1, 2017) – Terry O’Sullivan, General President of LIUNA – the Laborers’ International Union of North America – made the following statement today regarding the Army Corps decision to grant the final easement on the Dakota Access Pipeline:

LIUNA is pleased to see that the Army has initiated the necessary steps needed in order to grant the easement and final approvals the Dakota Access Pipeline needs to complete construction. President Donald Trump is making good on his commitment both to expediting Dakota Access and creating good middle class jobs building our nation. We hope to see a speedy resolution of an approval process that was hijacked by extremists and whose challenges and protests were able to block a legally approved and permitted project.
