Nuclear Power

From building nuclear power plants from the ground up to maintenance and shutdown, LIUNA members work in the nuclear energy industry across the U.S. and Canada. LIUNA members are also helping build the first nuclear plant constructed in the last 30 years – Georgia’s Plant Vogtle.
Nuclear power generates about 20% of energy consumed in the U.S. without emitting greenhouse gases or causing air pollution. Nuclear energy is an integral part of a balanced “all of the above” approach to energy policy and LIUNA believes that expanding our nation’s nuclear energy capacity can help meet our energy needs and create good jobs, as well as enable us to address the threat of global warming.
