U.S. House Vote on Keystone Bold Action for Jobs and America's Energy Future

Washington, D.C. (November 14, 2014) – Terry O’Sullivan, General President of LIUNA – the Laborers’ International Union of North America – made the following statement today on the vote in the U.S. House on the Keystone XL Pipeline:

The bipartisan vote in the U.S. House of Representatives approving the Keystone XL Pipeline represents the kind of bold, decisive action that voters demanded in last week’s elections. The House vote is a call to end the politically-motivated delays that have kept family-supporting careers locked out of reach for thousands of men and women, and it is a step toward securing America’s energy future.

Unfortunately, on the same day the U.S. House took action, President Obama belittled the $8 billion project and the lifeline to the middle class that it, and similar energy initiatives, represent. We continue to hope that the message of last week’s election will sink in at the White House. Americans want action, jobs and a revitalized economy that the energy infrastructure boom has brought - not continued gridlock.
