Missouri Voters Defeat Anti-Worker Proposition A

Reject Extremist Agenda
Washington, D.C. (August 8, 2018) – Terry O’Sullivan, General President of LIUNA – the Laborers’ International Union of North America – made the following statement on the Missouri election results for Proposition A:

LIUNA, organized labor, and Missouri voters sent a clear and decisive message that right-to-work is wrong for the working-class with the defeat of Proposition A on Missouri’s August 7 ballot. LIUNA and fellow union allies were relentless in mobilizing hundreds of thousands of voters in an extraordinary effort that demonstrated both union solidarity and our commitment to defeating a measure that was intended to destroy the lives of working men and women.

The measure, which would have devastated the working class and destroyed the good wages and prosperity of Missouri’s working families, was trounced because of the tireless efforts of thousands of LIUNA leaders and members who worked day and night for months to make this historic victory happen.

LIUNA could not be more proud of the determination of our brothers and sisters in Missouri or more encouraged that the voters of the great state of Missouri chose to protect their union rights and reject the false rhetoric peddled by anti-worker extremists.
