LIUNA Condemns Massive Expansion of H-2B Guest Worker Program as an Attack on Workers and Wages

Washington, D.C. (Feb. 2, 2026) — The Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) strongly condemns the decision to issue nearly 65,000 additional H-2B guest worker visas, effectively doubling the annual cap and further rigging the labor market against working people.

Flooding the labor market with exploitable foreign workers, drives down wages, and weakens standards for all workers, and is NOT putting the American worker first.

LIUNA represents hundreds of thousands of workers who are ready, trained, and willing to work. If employers truly face hiring challenges, the answer is better wages, safer conditions, and real workforce investment-- not importing a vulnerable workforce designed to be cheaper and easier to exploit.

LIUNA calls on the government to immediately reverse this expansion and focus on creating good jobs for workers, not loopholes for corporations that want to pay people less. We call for immigration and labor policies that raise standards, protect workers, and strengthens the American workforce.
