ABC never wastes an opportunity to trot out arguments against paying a fair, market-based based wage for construction  projects. Chris Fisher, President of Associated Builders and Contractors of Michigan, recently repeated the false claim that “…prevailing wage law is holding the construction industry back.” Mike Malloure, President of C.A. Hull Co., gave a great defense of prevailing wage rules in a piece on Sunday, debunking the myths in Chris Fisher’s article:

Our prevailing wage laws ensure that we have a highly skilled workforce and that our infrastructure in Michigan is being built safely.

 

This skilled workforce produces higher productivity, better efficiency, and superior workmanship, which reduces cost while ensuring Michigan taxpayers get quality projects that improve the safety of the motoring public.
