Washington, May 2, 2016: Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) General President Terry O’Sullivan today issued the following statement regarding 2016 Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW).

LIUNA is proud to represent a large number of public employees at every level of government, including healthcare workers, custodians, snowplow drivers, bus drivers, and National Guard technicians to name a few.

 

As we honor these men and women that serve us every single day, we must also guard against anti-union forces that look to take away the wages and benefits of public employees through Right to Work legislation. We have won a temporary battle by winning the Friedrichs case at the U.S. Supreme Court but it is our duty to continue to fight the good fight to ensure that public employees continue to receive all that they deserve.

 

We will always stand in solidarity with public employees, not only during the week of Public Service Recognition Week but always, so that those that serve us, will also be best served through all of our efforts.
