Heller and Heinrich Take Lead in Senate on Repeal of Cadillac Tax

Bill Will Put “Affordable Care” Back in the Affordable Care Act

Washington, D.C. (September 17, 2015) – Terry O’Sullivan, General President of LIUNA – the Laborers’ International Union of North America – made the following statement today on the announcement of a Cadillac tax repeal bill in the Senate:

LIUNA applauds Senators Heller (R-NV) and Heinrich (D-NM) on their announcement of the Middle Class Health Benefits Tax Repeal Act to repeal the Cadillac tax. Their bipartisan bill will help roll back a tax which if implemented would put quality health care further out of reach for working Americans than it was before passage of health care reform.

The Heller-Heinrich bill will put the “Affordable Care” back in the Affordable Care Act and ensure that Americans who like their employer-provided health care can keep it.

With the Senators' leadership on a repeal bill, there is now tremendous momentum to right the wrong done with this tax. LIUNA looks forward to working with Congress to ensure that workers' across the country will be able to keep their healthcare.
