Local 773 is also proud to be one of the top fundraising locals across the nation for a number charitable organizations such as the Poshard Foundation for abused women, Bikers for Kids and the Therapy Learning Center for disabled children. Each year Local 773 also hosts the Annual Edward M. Smith Scholarship Golf Outing to raise money to enable deserving members and their families to further their education.

| The Therapy Center, Located in Carterville, Illinois, is a non-profit organization. Their objective is to enable children with disabilities to lead happier, more productive and self-sufficient lives. TLC provides services including pediatric speech & therapy, language, cognitive, and motor skills training along with physical therapy. The center also provides hearing aids, muscle and limb braces and equipment such as wheel chairs and walkers. These professional services are available at no charge to over 350 children annually. |

| Our members are dedicated to hard working people coming together to improve the lives and their communities. Throughout each year special events fundraising efforts are devoted to help the disabled children of the Therapy Center which enables children with disabilities to lead happier more productive lives by providing therapy along with equipment such as walkers and wheelchairs.Laborers’ assisted in building TLC in 1993 through donated labor and financing was provided through Central Laborers’ Pension Funds’ real estate program. Since then, Laborers’ have raised more than $1,000,000 for TLC. All of the services areprovided free of charge and the donations raised by the Laborers’ during fundraising drives have played an important part in keeping the Center open and helping children. |
