The men and women of LIUNA—the Laborers’ International Union of North America—do the hard, dangerous and sometimes dirty work of building our country.

LIUNA is the most progressive, aggressive and fastest-growing union of construction workers. LIUNA’s Build Indiana 2010 campaign will mobilize thousands of Indiana LIUNA members and allies to appeal to the state’s U.S. Senators and other elected officials to join the effort to build America so America works.

The union will also embark on a media effort that includes billboards warning of deficient bridges, radio ads, online ads and other outreach. The first of Indiana's billboards will be announced. Nearly one in four construction workers across the U.S. are unemployed and in Indiana 33,500 construction  jobs have been lost since the recession and Indiana's overall unemployment rate stands at 10%. Meanwhile, 22 percent of Indiana's bridges are structurally deficient or functionally obsolete, there are 279 high hazard dams, the state’s drinking and waste water infrastructure is in dire need, and a third of major roads are in poor or mediocre condition.
