The purposes of this Code are to help ensure that the best interests of our members are protected and remain our first priority, to protect our members against improper influences whether from within or outside the Union, to preserve and protect our Union's good name and reputation and to recognize and promote the highest standards of ethical conduct throughout our Union pursuant to a single, unified Code to apply consistently throughout the United States and Canada. While recognizing that there are differences in the legal systems of both countries, our goal is to create consistent standards of responsibility among all our members, officers, representatives and employees. The Laborers-Employers Cooperation and Education Trust (LECET) offers a clearinghouse of materials and tools that can help Laborers expand market share. LECET is a partnership between the Laborers' International Union of North America and its signatory contractors to secure projects and jobs, increase market share, and advance shared market-related interests.
Winning Wage Justice: An Advocates Guide to State and City Policies to Fight Wage Theft
Public agencies, including federal and state departments of labor and state Attorneys General, are potentially potent allies in efforts to enforce and improve just pay laws in the states. Even in times of tight budgets, public agencies have resources and are charged with ensuring that workers are paid properly. Low-wage worker advocates have historically under-utilized these agencies, but recently have begun to reach out and see the potential for collaboration and partnerships.
